@aaronbroyer yeah, that was the thing, it can take a year or more to bring something complex to trial, so this was basically a sure thing. The NY "defamation" lawsuit by the rape-fantasy nutjob was a civil case.

@f84jf85hg7g "criminal" is pretty well-defined in U.S. law. Speeding tickets are generally infractions, unless the severity of the offense rises to the level of a misdemeanor or felony (speeding more than 20mph over the limit, DUI, etc.).
BTW, former presidents generally get chauffeured around by the Secret Service any time they're going somewhere because of the risk of assassination attempts and the need for evasive driving in such a situation.
