Description

Congress just passed a short-term budget that expires on February 8. Democrats agreed to end the previous shutdown on January 22 in exchange for Mitch McConnell's word that a DACA bill will be negotiated. Bet on if you think congress will pass a budget by February 8 or will there be another government shutdown?

Decision Logic

Congress must pass a budget by February 8 that will allow the government to be running normally on February 9. Essential government functions, such as police and military, are never shutdown. If normal government departments are not open on Feb. 9 due to no budget, the government would be shutdown, which would be a YES resolution. If congress passes a spending bill, either short-term or long-term, that keeps the government open, this will resolve as NO. This will resolve early if a budget is passed and as usual most recent bets (within last 24 hours) would be refunded.

@BetMoose indeed, it's my fault, it was I who reported. I failed to notice that it was indeed possible for both this and https://www.betmoose.com/bet/will-congress-pass-a-budget-or-cr-by-feb_-8-4046#bets-1 to have 'inconsistent' results due to one's deadline being fev 8 23:59 and the other fev 9 8:00. It's as @eric2017 stated

@BetMoose @Avalon Unsure why this outcome was disputed. The government was open for 75% of the day on Feb. 9. The Decision Logic clearly suggests if government operations are interrupted by the start of business (normally 8:00 AM) because of the lack of a budget, it would be shutdown. Since the budget was passed at 5:30 AM, this did not affect normal business operations. All federal employees reported to work as normal.
